CHAPTER 1 ATTENCION 

Asking for attention itu ungkapan yg digunakan untuk mendapat perhatian.


Berikut ini beberapa contohnya.

        1.       On the train.

       Mimey notices that a woman is getting off, leaving her wallet.

       Mimey   : Excuse me ma’am, but I think you have left your wallet behind !

       Woman : Oh, thank you very much, young woman.

        2.     At the bus station.

      There is a long waiting in the queue in front of the ticket window.

     Ashadi turned at the man behind him and said.

Ashadi   : Sorry to trouble you, but could you tell me what time it is?

Man       : Certainly; well, it is now 11:30

Ashadi   : Thank you

        3.       On the street.

      A foreigner approaches Valentino.

Foreigner  :  Sorry to bother you, but could you tell me the nearest way to the petrol station?

Valentino    :  Well, go ahead to the corner, then turn left, and the petrol station is 100 meters from There.

        4.       At school.

The students are waiting for Masayu by chatting. Target Dinner notices that Massayu has come.

Target Dinner    : Hey, students.

Students            : Hi Git din.

Target Dinner    : Look who coming is !

        5.       At a students’ meeting.

The leader is addressing the group.

Leader  :    Dear audience, boys and girls, may I have your attention. Please. We should start now with our meeting.

            

Ways to say it: Asking for and showing attention 

When you tell a story, you can use questions to attract your listeners’ attention. Whereas when you listen to a story, you can use several expressions to show that you are paying attention to what is being talked about.

Asking for attention 
• Excuse me, I wonder if I could trouble you ….
• May I have your attention, please?
• Excuse me, ….
• Sorry to trouble you.
• Sorry to bother you.
• Look at me!

1. Checking for understanding (menanyakan pemahaman).

  • Do you understand what I’m saying? (Apakah kamu mengerti apa yang saya katakan?).
  • Do you know what I mean? (Apakah kamu tahu maksud saya?).

Appreciating and complimenting

Compliment in the word's of praise is given to a person to appreciate the success or achievement in get it. Below are some examples of expressions that can be used to give a compliment to someone to intend well, for example :

After we put the above sentence, we must use adjectives, such as :

Asking (Menayakan), Giving (Menjawab), Opinion (Pendapat/Opini) . Asking and Giving Opinion adalah suatu ungkapan yang digunakan untuk menyakan ataupun menjawab/ merespon suatu pendapat.
